ATIXA Coordinator Three: Key Topics and Lessons from Recent Court Decisions is a two-day course focused on legal concepts and corresponding recent litigation and case law including topics such as deliberate indifference, due process, the First Amendment, appeals, retaliation, erroneous outcome, selective enforcement, and more. Faculty will provide introductory information regarding each legal concept and then review the facts of each case, the decision (if applicable, and the takeaways for Title IX team members to consider as they fulfill their compliance responsibilities).

After completing this training, participants will be able to…

  • Explain the difference between Office for Civil Rights enforcement and court enforcement
  • Gain familiarity with current “hot topics” and trends in Title IX litigation and other risk management issues facing higher education and K-12 settings
  • Determine whether a court decision is binding on their institution
  • Evaluate current institutional practices in light of recent court decisions to determine if changes need to be made

The Coordinator Three course builds on the Coordinator One course with a deep-dive into key topics, providing participants with greater intentionality and skill-building through case study and scenario discussions. The four levels of advanced training are not given in a particular order or progression, despite their numerical labeling. They offer topic-based opportunities for training depending on your needs and interest in the topics offered.

To obtain certification from ATIXA, you will need to sign-in to your Event Lobby each day of training and attend the whole event. It is our expectation that you are present for the entire duration of your training course. Certification will only be provided once ATIXA has verified attendance through the Event Lobby.

Please allow 7-10 days following the completion of the course and then log in on our website and visit the My ATIXA page to access the Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program system. Please follow the instructions on the webpage to obtain your certification. Our CCC program allows those certified by ATIXA to track, maintain, and extend their professional development through our programs.
