Josie Hoover, DMin., SHRM-CP, brings 19 years of experience in higher education administration, inclusive of student services, governance, compliance, and human resources. Currently, Hoover is the Director of Human Resources and Title IX Co-Coordinator at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (PTS), where she manages the Seminary’s HR functions and Title IX compliance.
Prior to joining PTS, Hoover was the Compliance Officer & Title IX Coordinator at the University of the District of Columbia, where she was responsible for developing and implementing all university-wide policies and programs related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 (ADA), workers’ compensation, and campus equity and diversity programs.
Hoover’s previous roles in higher education include Title IX Coordinator, Director of Human Resources, and Diversity Officer at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Committed to higher education, she serves as a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission for Higher Education, the Association for Theological Schools/Commission on Accrediting, and as an Advisory Board member of the Association for Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), as well as a member of its Civility and Respect Community of Practice.
Her community outreach efforts include serving as a mentor for the RISE Together Mentorship Network (Pittsburgh Cohort) and as a member of the boards of the Appalachian Ministries Educational Resource Center (Berea, KY) and the Joy of Motion Dance Center, Inc. (Washington, DC). Her professional memberships include the Society for the Arts in Religious and Theological Studies, the American Academy of Religion, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
Hoover has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville, and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Wesley Theological Seminary.
