Virtual Congressional Briefing with ATIXA
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX, ATIXA will be hosting a virtual Congressional briefing on Tuesday, June 14 at 12:00 pm ET. The briefing will be an hour-long session with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and ATIXA members. Panelists will consist of ATIXA leadership and ATIXA members that serve as Title IX practitioners and leaders in the field.
The event will focus on discussing the current state of Title IX and key challenges and issues facing Title IX Coordinators in schools and colleges. These topics will consist of conversations around the current state of Title IX, current challenges with key elements of the law, experiences of Title IX Coordinators in schools, and solutions for Congress to improve Title IX compliance and to better support Title IX Coordinators. On March 31, 2022, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, Rep. Jackie Speier, Committee Member and Co-Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, and Rep. Mikie Sherrill, introduced the Gender Equity in College Sports Commission Act to ensure gender equity across all National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) athletic programs.
