A discrimination complaint based on race, color, or national origin may also call for academic support, safety planning, emotional assistance, and referrals to campus resources. Similarly, a BIT referral may uncover potential Title VI concerns. When these issues overlap, institutions must know which team should respond, when collaboration is appropriate, and where boundaries need to be maintained.
This session explores how Title VI offices and BIT/Care Teams can work together while preserving their distinct roles. Participants will discuss strategies to improve communication, clarify responsibilities, strengthen referral pathways, and coordinate support in ways that advance both compliance and student care.
