What is a challenge you face doing Title IX work?
I am the only paid employee doing Title IX work. Everyone else on the team, including our investigators, is a volunteer, and very busy with their own job. It is up to me.
What is an ATIXA resource or tool that has aided you?
The listserv is such a valuable resource. Fortunately, we do not have a large number of Title IX cases at this college, so I try to learn from all of those discussions.
What is the value of ATIXA membership for you?
The training, the Member library with so many sample documents and guides, and of course the listserve. Also, I love Friday afternoon IX and Wine!*
How has ATIXA helped you to be a better professional?
I believe the professionalism of the TNG partners and employees and the breadth and depth of their knowledge and experience give me a lot of confidence that I can rely on their opinions, sample documents, guides, and training. They embody ethical conduct and encourage us to aim for the ceiling and not just the floor.
What is one piece of advice you would offer your fellow practitioners?
Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t know something and to get help.
