How do you recognize and respond to Title VI complaints involving multiple protected identities, including race, national origin, disability, and sex?

This session is designed to equip practitioners with the knowledge, analytical skills, and practical tools necessary to effectively recognize, assess, and respond to Title VI complaints involving individuals with overlapping protected identities (e.g., race, national origin, disability, and sex-based discrimination).

 When complaints implicate more than one protected characteristic, questions quickly arise around jurisdiction, investigative scope, and procedural alignment. This session examines how to embed intersectional analysis at every stage of the process, from intake through investigation and resolution, ensuring the full scope of harm is assessed while maintaining a cohesive and defensible analysis.

 The session also highlights Process B within ATIXA’s One Policy, Two Procedures (1P2P) Model as a framework for managing complex complaints. Participants will leave with strategies for identifying when an intersectional analysis is necessary.
