Addressing Technology-Facilitated Sexual Misconduct Workshop

Coming Summer 2026

The Addressing Technology-Facilitated Sexual Misconduct Workshop examines how emerging technologies are being used to perpetrate sexual harassment and sexual misconduct in education settings. As digital tools, social media, and artificial intelligence evolve, administrators are increasingly encountering complaints involving online harassment, image-based sexual abuse, and technology-enabled intimate partner violence. Participants will discuss how these behaviors manifest in relation to K–12 and higher education environments, the laws and policies that may apply, and practical strategies for responding. The training will also highlight prevention education approaches and discuss emerging issues administrators should be prepared to address.

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to…

  • Define technology-facilitated sexual misconduct and recognize multiple forms for online harassment and image-based sexual abuse
  • Explain common Respondent motivations for engaging in these types of behavior
  • Identify and evaluate applicable laws and/or institutional policies
  • Recognize how technology can be used in instances of intimate partner violence and stalking
  • Describe strategies for responding to technology-facilitated sexual misconduct within education environments
  • Implement prevention education approaches that address digital safety and responsible technology use in both K–12 and higher education settings
  • Discuss emerging technologies and trends that may impact how institutions address sexual misconduct in the future
