Supporting the People, Programs, and Systems Behind Student Success
ATIXA and TNG partners with colleges and universities to help Student Affairs offices and divisions evaluate and improve how their people, programs, structures, and systems work together. Drawing on extensive experience in Student Affairs roles, we take a broad view of the student experience to identify practical opportunities for improvement.
Whether an institution needs help with organizational structure, staff development, leadership transitions, or team building, our consultants tailor their approach to the institution’s priorities and needs.
Student Affairs Structural Assessment
ATIXA and TNG reviews the Student Affairs program to independently evaluate how effectively its organizational structure, services, staffing, and resources support strategic priorities, operational effectiveness, student-centered service delivery, and measurable student success outcomes. Each assessment is customized to the institution and may examine an entire Student Affairs division, interconnected functions, or a specific department or program.
Our assessments can identify duplication, service gaps, and barriers that may affect students’ ability to access the right support at the right time.
Through stakeholder engagement, organizational and operational analysis, data review, and benchmarking, we evaluate areas such as organizational design and reporting relationships, staffing and capacity, program effectiveness, resource allocation, cross-functional collaboration, policies and practices, communication, service delivery, and the student experience. We examine how responsibilities and information move across functions to detect silos, workflow friction, and inefficient coordination. Consultants identify what is working and where targeted changes could improve effectiveness and better support students and institutional priorities.
Institutions receive practical, prioritized recommendations for improvement, which may include a comprehensive assessment report, findings summary, leadership presentation, and implementation roadmap with suggested phasing and prioritization.
Organizational Structure and Capacity
Does your organizational structure support the work? We examine reporting relationships, staffing and capacity, role clarity, leadership, decision-making pathways, and workload and resource distribution to identify opportunities to clarify accountability, reduce redundancy, address gaps, and improve organizational effectiveness.
Programs, Services, and Student Experience
Are your programs and services meeting current student and institutional needs? Consultants assess utilization, accessibility, effectiveness, and outcomes by reviewing student-facing service models, referral pathways, service coordination, handoffs, and students’ experiences navigating institutional support.
Collaboration and Operational Effectiveness
How well do your teams and functions work together? Consultants identify where communication or coordination breaks down and whether policies, practices, workflows, technology, and operational processes support timely, effective service delivery.
Data, Outcomes, and Strategic Alignment
Does your Student Affairs program leverage data to understand needs, measure impact, inform decisions, and allocate resources? We examine data on student success, retention, engagement, well-being, and other factors to identify trends and gaps, benchmark performance where appropriate, and align programs and resources with institutional priorities.
