Georgina Dodge, Ph.D. is the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of
Maryland. Dr. Dodge works closely with senior leaders, faculty, staff, students and external
constituencies to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and respect as core institutional
values. She is also a member of the President’s Cabinet and works with the Senior Vice
President and Provost to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
She was previously at Bucknell University as the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate
Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She oversaw four campus organizations,
including the Office of Accessibility Resources, the Office of Civic Engagement, the Griot
Institute for Africana Studies, and the Teaching & Learning Center.
Prior to joining Bucknell in 2017, she was the Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX
Coordinator at the University of Iowa for seven years after spending 14 years at Ohio State
University in various roles. And prior to working in higher education, she served for six
years in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician specializing in communications, radar,
and meteorological equipment. She speaks frequently around the country on diversity and
leadership issues.
Along with her various memberships to professional organizations like the Association of
Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), and Association on Higher Education and Disability
(AHEAD), she organized the Women of Color Caucus within the Society for the Study of
Multi-Ethnic Literatures of the United States and has served in several other changemaking
positions throughout her 23-year career. Dodge has also been featured in the
September 2018 cover of Diverse: Issues of Education. ATIXA is proud to have her
